KTX, short for
Korea Train Express, is South Korea’s high-speed rail system operated by Korail. Trains can reach speeds of up to 305 km/h (190 mph), making them one of the fastest ways to travel across the country. The network links major cities such as Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Mokpo, significantly reducing journey times compared to conventional trains or buses. For instance, the Seoul–Busan trip, which once took more than four hours, now takes about 2.5 hours by KTX.
Onboard, passengers can expect modern facilities including comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, power outlets, and luggage storage.
